The first Korea-ASEAN Forum
The first Korea-ASEAN Cooperation Forum will be held at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Jakarta, Indonesia, on November 10-12, co-hosted by the Korea Foundation (President: Kwon In Hyuk), the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (Chancellor: Cho Jung-pyo) and the Center for Strategic and CSIS (Executive Director: Hadi Soesastro).
The agenda items to be discussed are: "Evaluation of and Prospects for the Region's Overall Environment;" "Overview of Korea-ASEAN Cooperation and major Tasks;" and "Strengthening Cooperation in East Asia."
This year's delegation from Korea will consist of 14 members including Cho Jung-pyo, Chancellor, IFANS; Kim Seung-eui, Executive Vice President, the Korea Foundation; Lee Sun-jin, Ambassador, Korean Embassy in Jakarta; Kim Young-hie, Editor-at-Large, JoongAng Ilbo; Lee Kyung-tae, President, the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy.
Nineteen distinguished representatives from ASEAN countries will join the Forum including Hadi Soesastro, Executive Director, the Center for Strategic and International Studies; Mohamed Jawhar Hassan, Director General, the Institute of Strategic and International Studies of Malaysia; Romeo Manalo, Assistant Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Philippines; Santi Vilassakdanont, President, SAHA Pathana Inter-Holding PCL of Thailand.
It is planned to hold this Form annually in each of the ASEAN countries, and the 4th or 5th Forum will be held in Seoul, Korea.
