Dear Sir/Madam,
 

I deeply appreciate the interest and support you have continuously shown toward the Korea Foundation. I would like to inform you that I will be leaving my position as President of the Korea Foundation, as of February 26, 2010, on completing my term of office.

During the past three years that I served as President, the Korea Foundation, a leading organization in the field of public diplomacy, facilitated international exchange between Korea and various countries worldwide in order to promote understanding of diverse cultures throughout the world and raise global awareness of Korean culture, thereby promoting the national brand of Korea.

The Foundation has expanded support for Korean studies overseas, cultural and intellectual exchange which it has contributed to since its establishment in 1991. Furthermore, it has broadened the geographical scope of beneficiaries and partnerships and diversified strategies for international exchange activities, in keeping with the Korean government’s diplomatic vision and policies regarding major issues, such as climate change, resource diplomacy, new growth engines, etc. The Foundation has also contributed to enhancing people’s understanding of global issues through the collection and dissemination of various materials about public diplomacy, and research activities.

Looking back on my term in office, I have been privileged to experience both rewarding and challenging times. However, I have continuously strived with all my heart and passion to accomplish our tasks, assisted by the outstanding support of the staff members of the Foundation and many other individuals and organizations with whom I have been associated during my term.

Looking ahead into the future, your continued support for the Korea Foundation would be highly appreciated, as it broadens its outreach in the global community, in the field of public diplomacy.
