[Invitation] Dr. Dawn Casey, Director of Powerhouse Museum Sydney (The Museum of Applied Arts & Science)

Dr. Dawn Casey, a director of Powerhouse Museum Sydney, will visit Korea from October 16 to 22 by invitation of the Korea Foundation.

Dr. Casey who was former CEO of Western Australian Museum and National Museum of Australia is an influential person in the museum, culture and art industry in Australia. She is particularly interested in cultural exchange for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Korea and Australia in 2011. Her visit is thus expected to provide an opportunity for enhancing cultural exchange between our two countries and also for improving understanding about Korea’s society and culture.

Powerhouse Museum affiliated with the NSW (New South Wales) State Government-Culture and Recreation- is the major branch of the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences in Sydney, the other being the historic Sydney Observatory.

During her stay, Dr. Casey will meet with counterparts at the National Museum of Korea, the Korea Institute of Design Promotion, Seoul Design Foundation, Gyeongju National Museum and so forth. She will also visit the Gyeongbok Palace, Korean Folk Village, Nam June Paik Art Center, Leeum -Samsung Museum of Art-, Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), Daegu-Gyeongbuk Design Center (DGDC), “Miso” (Korean Traditional Arts Performance), and Gyeongju cultural sites for an opportunity to appreciate Korea’s past and present first-hand.
