ASEAN Culture House Special Exhibition
Playful ASEAN-ASEAN Seen Through Traditional Leisure Activities
The special exhibition “Playful ASEAN” will have its opening ceremony on Friday, September 14, along with the celebration of the first anniversary of the opening of the ASEAN Culture House.
This exhibition presents the cultural characteristics of the 10 ASEAN countries through their leisure and game culture, known in Korean as “nori” (놀이, an activity taken part by two or more people for their amusement). Nori is the most primitive and common act that demonstrates the human race’s basic desire to seek amusement. Nori that exist ubiquitously regardless of ethnicity, nation, and region are mostly developed and maintained in close relation with social-cultural elements. We invite you to experience the history and culture of ASEAN that are ed little by little onto its nori by appreciating artworks of contemporary artists as well as playing with various traditional game tools of the ASEAN region.
