On July 28 and August 1, traditional Korean drum performances will be held in Canberra and Melbourne to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Australia and Korea. Jointly organized by the KF, the Korean Embassy in Sydney, and the Korean Consulate-General in Melbourne, these commemorative events were originally planned for last year, as 2021 marked the diplomatic milestone, but got canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The gugak fusion ensemble Tago, whose slogan is “Lighting Up the World by Beating Drums,” will hold innovative performances using traditional Korean arts under the title Tago: Korean Drum. The tour is expected to raise Australian interest in and understanding of Korean drum tradition and its creative culture.
