2018 International Academic Conference on Korean Peacebuilding
Emerging experts in Korea-related issues will get together at the fifth International Academic Conference on Korean Peacebuilding on July 9 at the Westin Chosun Seoul. The meeting will be co-hosted by the KF and the Institute for Unification Education (IUE) of the Ministry of Unification and organized by the Korean Association of North Korean Studies at Seoul National University.
Since its introduction in 2014, the conference has facilitated the scholarly exchange of ideas on peacebuilding on the Korean Peninsula and cooperation for lasting peace in Northeast Asia. With a particular focus on helping young academics deepen their knowledge and understanding of Korean peace-oriented foreign policy, the gathering is aimed at strengthening international support for peacebuilding on the divided peninsula.
Opening at a time of heightened interest in Korean peace since the inter-Korean summits in April and May, and the summit meeting between the United States and North Korea, the participants are expected to engage in passionate debate and discussion at the conference.
