Saint Petersburg University opened its foreign representative office to Korea at the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in May 2017. The prominent Russian university established the office to strengthen exchange and cooperation with Korean universities, including joint research and academic conferences, thereby promoting Korean culture and language in Russia as well as Russian culture and language in Korea.
Saint Petersburg University has agreements with 18 universities and institutions in Korea for academic exchange and research activities. As a member of the coordinating committee of the Korea-Russia Dialogue, the university also strives to improve relations between Russia and the Republic of Korea. In addition to its foreign representative office, the University also established a center for Korean studies, building upon its existing work in cooperation with the Korea Foundation and the Academy of Korean Studies to promote the discipline on campus.
