In celebration of the 2018 Sokcho Paralympic Winter Games, the Korea Foundation invited 111 foreign residents from Seoul and Busan to the KF Theme Field Trip to Gangneung and Sokcho, Gangwon Province, on March 10 and 11. The Foundation annually implements the KF Theme Field Trip program in cooperation with international exchange organizations affiliated with Korea’s provincial governments. The recent program was organized jointly with the Busan Foundation for International Cooperation (BFIC), the ASEAN Culture House (ACH), and the Regional Advanced Universities Development Project.
The participants attended lectures to deepen their understanding about inter-Korean relations and took part in activities designed to promote friendship among themselves on the occasion of the 2018 Sokcho Paralympic Winter Games. They also watched a preliminary match of the Paralympic ice hockey tournament and visited sites of cultural importance in Gangneung and Sokcho, thus experiencing Korea and especially the Olympic venues in various ways. The 111 program participants who currently live or study in Korea hailed from 44 countries.
The KF Theme Field Trip, which introduces Korean history and culture, has received great feedback from foreign residents in Korea. Since 2015, a total of about 400 foreign residents have participated in the program.
