The Korea Foundation successfully organized the tour of non-verbal performance “CHEF” in three Central American Countries jointly with the Embassies of the Republic of Korea to Honduras, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica. The performance was presented five times in four different cities, San Pedro Sula, Tegucigalpa, Santo Domingo, and Kingston from June 2 to June 12, 2018, attracting over 3,500 audiences.

Audiences started to wait in a line outside the theater even two hours prior to the beginning of the performance and posted their reviews on SNS afterwards. As the tour went on, local audiences and media showed enthusiastic responses beyond our expectation.

The performers of succeeded in communicating with local people throughout the show under the genre of non-verbal performance based on Korean cuisine ‘bibimbap’. The audience gave big applause by expressing their gratitude to the performers after the finale.

All the sound, except background music, was created not by electronic sound but only beatbox and a cappella by the performers by themselves, and the performers expressed the fantastic taste of ‘bibimbap’ by b-boy dance and acrobatics, and it was enough to attract audience’s eyes and ears.

Right after the show, the performers took photos with the audience at the lobby. Most of the audiences were not hesitate to stand in such a long line for the photo time event. In addition, local news media covered the show by photographing and recording every scene during the show until the end by expressing their great interest to the performance.
