As part of the KF Global Cultural Bridge I under the title of “Pacific Alliance Festival 올라! Hola!”, the Korea Foundation organized outdoor performances and film screenings at Hanbit Square by the Cheonggye Stream in front of the KF Global Center on July 7 and 8.
Despite the midsummer heat, citizens flocked to the outdoor stage to enjoy a variety of performances by artists from the four Pacific Alliance member countries – Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru.
New-age pianist José Riveros from Chile opened the festival on Saturday, July 7 with sweet piano melodies. He was then followed by high-spirited Mexican singer Sheila Priego who showcased her impressive vocal range.
On Sunday, July 8, salsa dancer Jhonatan Jimenez from Colombia had spectators dancing in the aisles. And a traditional Peruvian band further enlivened the atmosphere with diverse music from their homeland.
Films of Colombia, Mexico and Peru were screened on both evenings after sunset. Lit up well into the night, Hanbit Square was filled with citizens enjoying the films in comfort, relaxing in the cool night air.
The traditional Peruvian band also performed in Jeonju, South Jeolla Province, on Monday, July 9 as part of the Korea Foundation’s joint projects with local governments. The band shared traditional Peruvian music with local residents in Jeonju, enjoying a meaningful time together.
