Twelve Young ASEAN Cultural Leaders Invited to Korea
From July 29 to August 4, 2018, the Korea Foundation invited 12 artists and civil servants in charge of cultural affairs from seven ASEAN member countries to Korea.

The invited guests were up and coming figures from the many cultural sectors of ASEAN, including Trinh Lien Ha Quyen, Deputy Director for Public Relations at the Vietnam Exhibition Center for Culture and Arts; Kanitha Tith, Cambodian installation artist; and Rizza Salterio, Information Officer at the National Museum of the Philippines.

To enhance their understanding of Korean culture, history and society and help make Korea-ASEAN cultural cooperation more active, they visited the Asia Culture Center; the Korea Arts Management Service; the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea; and the National Museum of Korea. They also visited the Salad Theater, the first theater company in Korea composed of migrants from various countries, to listen to those striving to overcome the cultural boundaries between migrants and locals.

In addition, they went on a tour of the SM Town Coex Artium and other sites in Seoul related to the marketing of Korean pop culture currently sweeping across Southeast Asia. They also attended the 15th PyeongChang Music Festival where they enjoyed Korean classical music and experienced firsthand the successful administration of a regional cultural event.
