
In cooperation with the National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR), the Korea Foundation invited nine young policy experts from prestigious think tanks in the United States to Korea from September 30 through October 6, 2018.
The invited guests were researchers in their 20s and 30s, currently working on East Asian and security issues at leading policy research institutions such as the NBR, the Brookings Institution, , the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission (USCC), the Center for a New American Security (CNAS) and the Center for Advanced Defense Studies (C4ADS). Led by Professor John Delury of the Graduate School of International Studies of Yonsei University, the delegation of the next-generation policy experts, potential specialists in Korean affairs, participated in the one-week visit Korea program.
During their stay in Korea, they visited Cheongwadae (the Blue House or the official residence and workplace of the President of the Republic of Korea), and government ministries such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Unification to be briefed and have discussion on key foreign affairs, unification and security issues of South Korea. In addition, they visited the U.S. Embassy in Seoul and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Korea, and participated in a roundtable hosted by the Asan Institute for Policy Studies to have in-depth discussion with Korean scholars and experts in foreign policy and security issues. They also had talks with foreign correspondents in Seoul and Korean journalists.
