Put on stage to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the Republic of Korea
From mid-September through early November, the Korea Foundation, in collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul, is hosting “2018 KF Global Bridge II - Sabai Sabai,” a comprehensive cultural program to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Republic of Korea. Composed of a wide range of events from performances to film screenings, the program began on September 19 with the opening of the “Out of Place” exhibition.
On the evening of October 10, a contemporary dance performance by Thai dancer and choreographer Ronnarong Khampha was put on stage at the KF Gallery.
Despite the somewhat chilly weather, about 60 people, including H.E. Mr. Singtong Lapisatepun, the Thai Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, visited the KF Gallery to enjoy Ronnarong Khampha's performance, which incorporated a dance style that originated from the Lanna Kingdom (1292-1775), which was located in present-day northern Thailand.

The performance was composed of two parts: in the first part, Ronnarong Khampha presented a dance created in 2016. Titled “Civilize,” it featured Khampha’s thoughts about being “civilized” and what attitude human beings should have. Through a special combination of music and silence, Khampha conveyed a message deeply important to him: “Let's learn again about the important things that we have lost.”
Part 2, entitled “From Man to Man,” was inspired by a poem written by King Rama V (1853-1910). It depicted how we people wear different faces and hide what is on their minds.
It is hoped that the performance, along with the concurrent exhibition, provided visitors with an opportunity to enjoy and immerse themselves in contemporary Thai art.
