As part of its Next Generation Policy Experts program, the Korea Foundation invited 11 young American policy experts to Korea in cooperation with the Chicago Council on Global Affairs (CCGA), one of the United States’ leading global affairs think tanks, from October 14 through 20, 2018.
The invited policy experts are active in various fields including education, finance and law. Participants were selected from among the “Emerging Leaders and Young Professional Ambassadors,” a program organized by the CCGA.
The delegation to Korea was led by researcher Karl Friedhoff, who took part in the annual CCGA survey on “American Public Opinion and U.S. Foreign Policy,” the results of which were released on October 1.
During their stay in Korea, the American policy experts met with leading officials from the Korean government, visited the U.S. Embassy in Seoul, and attended a roundtable meeting hosted by the Asan Institute for Policy Studies with experts and scholars in foreign affairs and security. They also had a meeting with foreign correspondents in Korea and local journalists.
