The Korea Foundation invited foreign leaders in the parliamentary sector to Korea for seven days from September 16 through 22, 2018.
Composed of ten law makers from eight countries, the delegation included Frances Gertrude Claire D'Souza, Member, House of Lords, U.K.; Esther Cuesta Santana, President, International Relations Committee, National Assembly, Ecuador; Ataningamu Jean Claude Mokeni, President, Commission for External Relations, Senate, Democratic Republic of the Congo; and Gloria Argentina Bonilla, President, International Relations Committee, National Congress, Honduras.
They visited the Ministry of Unification to be briefed on the political situation on the Korean peninsula and South Korea’s policy toward the North, and attended a lecture on South Korea’s economic development. They also had an opportunity to deepen their understanding about South Korea’s parliamentary democracy and political party system by visiting the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea and relevant think tanks.
