
From October 21 to 27, 2018, the Korea Foundation hosted a visit by a delegation of next-generation leaders from the Indian social and cultural sectors.
The Indian delegation included six young leaders: Mr. Maneesh Chauhan, secretary to the governor of the Uttar Pradesh state in northern India; Ms. Indhumathy Chandramohan, director-general of Uttar Pradesh Tourism; Mr. Shivaji Bhaskar, assistant professor at the School of Foreign Languages at the Indira Gandhi National Open University in New Delhi; Ms. Lakshmi Tulasi Rajesh, coordinator at the Korean Art & Culture Center in Guntur in the Andhra Pradesh in south-eastern India; Mr. Deepak Joshi, deputy director-general of Prasar Bharati, India's largest public broadcasting agency; and Ms. Gunjan Priya, program executive at Prasar Bharati.
The Foundation’s guests visited the Indian Embassy in Seoul to meet the Indian Ambassador to the Republic of Korea and receive a briefing on exchanges and cooperation between Korea and India. They also visited the National Museum of Korea, the Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), the Institute of Indian Studies at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, the Seoul Global Center, the K-Style Hub of the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) in Seoul, the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), the Hyundai Motor Studio, the Korea Educational Broadcasting System (EBS), and Gyeongbok Palace, the main royal palace of the Joseon dynasty. During their stay in Korea, they also visited the Korea National Diplomatic Academy to learn about the South Korean government's New Southern Policy and discuss ideas on how the two countries could cooperate in the future. In addition, they attended the 2018 Public Broadcasters International Seoul (PBI) conference to meet with leaders of national broadcasting companies from around the world, including the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) and the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS).
