
The Korea Foundation organized a workshop to strengthen cooperation in the fields of water resources and transport logistics between Korea and Central Asia in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan on March 27 and 29, 2019.
The workshop was co-organized by the Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum Secretariat administered by the Korea Foundation and the Korea Maritime Institute (KMI), and presented by the Atyrau State University of Kazakhstan, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Industry and Melioration of Kyrgyzstan. Government officials and relevant specialists from Korea and Central Asian countries attended the workshop to investigate the current status of transport logistics, fisheries and water resource management. They also found out any possibility for joint projects with Korean institutions to increase cooperation in water and marine resources and transport logistics between Korea and Central Asian countries.
Major topics discussed at the workshop included water resource management policy and comprehensive management plans, plans to build a comprehensive logistics system, policy to develop inland fish farming, and Korea’s smart water management. In addition, the Korean participants had practical exchange of ideas with Kyrgyz experts in fisheries to promote cooperation in technical assistance in preserving and developing fishery resources and the establishment of a relevant logistics network.
