Some Day or One Day – Recommendation by Cho Suemin

Have you ever heard of the term “sangchinja?” It refers to people who are mad for Xiǎngjiàn Nǐ, the Taiwanese show, Some Day or One Day.

Huang Yu-hsuan misses her boyfriend, Wang Chuan-Sheng, every day after he passes away. One day, she receives a parcel containing a cassette tape and player. She falls asleep, listening to Wu Bai’s “Last Dance” from the cassette player and, upon waking, finds that she has time-travelled to the year 1998. The show unfolds as she, now living in the body of a high school girl named Chen Yun-Ju, encounters Li Tsu-Wei who looks eerily similar to her deceased boyfriend.

I love this Taiwanese romance because of the innocent love it depicts. While watching the young men and women in the show cherishing friendship and creating happy memories, I found myself looking back on my school days fondly. To anyone who needs to recall those sentimental moments, I recommend Some Day or One Day.
