The summer edition of Koreana, a quarterly journal on the arts and culture of Korea, is now available. In this edition, the special feature highlights the islands off the coast of Sinan County, Jeollanam-do, which number over 1,000. With photo essays of the natural seascapes, the articles describe such subjects as the thriving salt farms, history, and culture of Heuksando Island, nostalgic memories of Bigeumdo Island, and the underwater treasures of Sinan. To supplement the special feature, the On the Road column takes readers on a tour of Mokpo Port, while the Focus column covers the highly publicized go (baduk) match between Lee Sedol and the AlphaGo AI system, which made headlines around the world.
