The 2016 Fall edition of Koreana, a quarterly journal on Korea’s culture and arts, is now available. This edition’s special feature looks into the DMZ’s potential as a tourist attraction, from a fresh perspective that highlights its fundamental role as a defensive barrier for the security of the Korean people and the firsthand experiences of international visitors at the final remnant of the Cold War era. The “On the Road” column supplements the DMZ coverage by exploring Imjin Naru, a historical site near the border. The regular sections include an eclectic range of subjects that might be of interest to readers: the Ihwa Mural Village, webtoon artist Kim Bo-tong, a Lee Jung-seob commemorative exhibition on the centennial of the artist’s birth, singer Kim Kwang-seok, and Korean rice.
