From July 1 to October 30, 2021, the K-Cinema Celebration in Canada
(KCC) was held across Canada through the joint efforts of the Korean
Embassy in Canada, the Korean Cultural Centre Canada, and the Korean
Consulates General in Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal.
The K-Cinema Celebration in Canada is an annual fall event featuring
Korean films, videos, arts, and culture. Previously held in
Montreal, Quebec, the largest French-speaking city in North America,
this year’s festival was expanded to locations across Canada,
presenting a special screening of movies starring actress Youn
Yuh-jung in celebration of her recent Oscar win. Also screened were
high-quality indie films and video works by media artists whose work
is difficult to access in Canada.
Throughout the festival, all the screened Korean movies were
released online for remote viewing anywhere in the country.
Information about the included works is available on the official
KCC website: (https://kccincanada.com/).
Thanks to the global popularity of the Korean Wave, the K-Cinema
Celebration in Canada is drawing growing attention across the
country. Expectations are already high for the list of films to be
screened next year.
