Korean Fusion Gugak Quartet to Tour Türkiye and Romania

Between September 29 and October 5, music lovers in Türkiye and Romania will have a rare opportunity to enjoy performances of fusion gugak (traditional Korean music) thanks to the joint efforts of the KF, the Korean Consulate in Istanbul, and the Korean Embassy in Romania.

The performances will begin in Istanbul, before moving on to Bucharest and Timișoara in Romania. They will celebrate the Korea Week festival in Istanbul and the 15th anniversary of Romania and Korea’s strategic partnership, respectively.

The Korean quartet Via Trio will play fusion gugak under the theme of “The Past & Present of K-Pop” using the haegeum (traditional Korean two-string instrument), guitar, and violin to perform pansori (epic storytelling through song). The ensemble of Eastern and Western instruments will allow audiences in Romania and Türkiye to experience the charm of Korean culture and aims to promote Korea’s relations with the two countries.
