ASEAN on Paper: KONNECT ASEAN Chiang Mai Print Residency
On November 21, fourteen Korean and ASEAN artists will display 16 works produced as participants of the ‘ASEAN on Paper: KONNECT ASEAN Chiang Mai Print Residency’. The group exhibition will take place at the KF Gallery in Seoul and is jointly organized by the KF ASEAN Culture House (KF–ACH) and the ASEAN Foundation (AF).
KONNECT ASEAN is a project launched in 2019 by the ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Fund to promote exchange between artists in Korea and countries in Southeast Asia. AF is a non-profit organization in Jakarta, Indonesia, established in 1997 with the aim of enhancing ASEAN awareness and developing the potentials of ASEAN citizens. AF has maintained its partnership with the KF–ACH through the KONNECT ASEAN project.
The November exhibition is the third KONNECT ASEAN project born of the AF-ACH collaboration, following the Contemporary Print Show: Arise in 2021 and last year’s To a Faraway Friend: Beyond Afro-Southeast Asian Affinities exhibition. By showing the works of four Korean and ten ASEAN artists who participated in the KONNECT ASEAN Chiang Mai Print Residency, the exhibition begins a new chapter in the history of ASEAN-Korea cultural exchange and cooperation.
Alongside the exhibition, the screening of 10 short films on the themes of “paper” and “prints/printing” will provide the audience with a variety of new perspectives and stories. The films have been produced by ASEAN directors with the support of the Busan Film Commission.
